Finding Your Next Chapter Through Travel After Loss
Losing a spouse can change the way you think about travel. Places you once dreamed of visiting together may suddenly feel different, and taking the first trip without your partner can feel overwhelming.
But travel can also be an opportunity to discover what your next chapter looks like. Whether you're considering your first solo trip, would rather travel with others who understand, or simply want to explore somewhere new, I'm here to help make that next step feel a little easier.
For six years, I have had the privilege of working as a grief counselor, specifically supporting widows and widowers as they navigate life after the death of a spouse.
One of the things I have learned is that when we lose our spouse, we often lose more than the person we love. We can also lose our sense of safety and security - the feeling that there was someone beside us as we moved through the world.
We also grieve the future we thought we were going to have. The retirement plans. The anniversaries. The places we talked about seeing together. The trips that were supposed to happen someday.
I don't believe those dreams have to disappear.
Taking that trip will never replace the person you planned to experience it with. But contunuing to see the world, make new memories, and pursue some of the dreams you once shared can become part of discovering what your next chapter looks like.
Whether you're ready to travel independently or would feel more comfortable traveling with others who understand, I am here to help you find a way forward that feels right for you.
Sometimes the hardest part of traveling after the loss of a spouse isn't deciding where to go - it's wondering who you'll go with.
That's why I'm developing group travel opportunities specifically for widows and widowers who are ready to see the world again, but would enjoy doing it alongside people who understand that life - and travel - can feel different after loss.
These trips will offer the comfort of traveling with a group while still giving you the freedom to make the experience your own. Join others for activities and meals when you'd like, explore independently when you don't, and know that you're traveling among people who understand.
You don't have to wait for someone else to be ready before you start seeing the places you've dreamed about.
You won't be just another reservation. From your first questions through your return home, I'll be available to help you navigate the details, answer questions and help make the planning - and the journey itself - feel a little less overwhelming
Travel is often easier when there is someone to experience it with. Our group journeys will create opportunities to explore destinations, enjoy meals and activities, and make new memories alongside others who understand what it means to begin a new chapter.
Grief doesn't stay home when we travel. These journeys offer a supportive environment where you can connect with others who understand - with no pressure to participate, share or grieve in any particular way.
